In our home, we have many beautiful Christmas decorations. My wife does a wonderful job decorating our home for the holidays. On one shelf, we have several nativity sets. And at the center of each nativity set is Jesus.
That’s the way every day of our lives should be — Jesus at the center.
The Bible records the song that Mary sang to the Lord in praise for all that he was doing in her life and through her life to give birth to the Savior. Her pregnancy was miraculous, but she had learned that nothing is impossible with God. She was not a person of prominence, but she had learned that God works through his humble servants.
Mary sang this song a few months before she gave birth to Jesus. Her song was a song of faith and obedience to God. Let us learn from Mary’s song how to put Jesus at the center of our lives. Let us show the world that at Christmastime and every day, in our lives it really is all about Jesus.
46 And Mary said:
My soul praises the greatness of the Lord,
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 because he has looked with favor
on the humble condition of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations
will call me blessed,
49 because the Mighty One
has done great things for me,
and his name is holy.
50 His mercy is from generation to generation
on those who fear him.
51 He has done a mighty deed with his arm;
he has scattered the proud
because of the thoughts of their hearts;
52 he has toppled the mighty from their thrones
and exalted the lowly.
53 He has satisfied the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering his mercy
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he spoke to our ancestors.
Let us see who God is.

- The Lord is the Mighty One (v49)
- The Lord is our Savior (v47)
Let us worship God.
- Worship God by praising him (v46)
- Worship God by rejoicing in him (v47)
- Worship God by humbling ourselves before him (v48)
- Worship God by declaring his works from generation to generation (vv49-53)
- Worship God by proclaiming the gospel to all nations (vv54-55, and see Genesis 12:1-3)
It really is all about Jesus.
