The impact of God’s Spirit on your life

Many things impact your life: current events, your family, job situation, health, finances, relationships, the weather (eclipse!) and more. God wants to impact your life. He created you. He knows you better than you know yourself. He invites you to trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. When you receive him by faith, his Holy Spirit comes to live within you, impacting your life in amazing ways.

What are the ways that God’s Spirit impacts your life? When people think of powerful demonstrations of the power of God’s Spirit, many think in terms of miraculous healing, perseverance during extreme persecution, or supernatural knowledge. In first-century Corinth, brilliant oratory was held in high regard. Yet all of these things are temporary. There is something greater.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5
1 When I came to you, brothers and sisters, announcing the mystery of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom. 2  I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3  I came to you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4  My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5  so that your faith might not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power.

The Spirit demonstrates God’s power by giving us life-changing faith in Jesus.

For some people, God’s plan is mysterious. Throughout the Old Testament period, there were prophecies of a Savior to come yet no one knew exactly who he would be. In Jesus, God’s mystery was revealed. Sadly, today many people still live without understanding God’s plan. The Holy Spirit reveals God’s mystery to us: salvation is available through Jesus Christ! This is good news for the entire world.

1 Corinthians 2:1-2, 6-10
1 When I came to you, brothers and sisters, announcing the mystery of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom. 2  I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified….

6 We do, however, speak a wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7  On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory. 8  None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, because if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9  But as it is written, What no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived? — God has prepared these things for those who love him. 10 Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, since the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

The Spirit reveals God’s mystery that salvation is available through Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit demonstrates God’s power by giving us life-changing faith in Jesus. He reveals God’s mystery that salvation is available through Jesus Christ. Also, God’s Spirit teaches us how to have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:11-16
11  For who knows a person’s thoughts except his spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12  Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. 13  We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. 14  But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually. 15  The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, and yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone.
16  For who has known the Lord’s mind, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The Spirit teaches us how to have the mind of Christ.

Daily depend on the Holy Spirit to teach you how to think like Jesus. Immerse yourself in God’s Word. Pray to God and listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart and mind.

God’s Spirit impacts your life today.
