Reach Out Together

At any moment of any day, you can know that Christians around the world are engaged in gospel conversations, the kind of conversations that Jesus had with people when He was on the earth. God calls us to reach out to others with the good news of Jesus Christ. We have good news to share!

Pastor Kevin recently shared a message with Hebron Church about our responsibility and opportunity to reach out together with others, taking every opportunity to point people toward faith in Jesus Christ. When we work together, the results are amazing.

Here are my notes from his message:

1. We are sent.

Romans 10:15 (HCSB)
15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!

2. We are sent to proclaim a message.

Romans 10:15 (HCSB)
15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!

Here’s the message we are sent to preach/proclaim: God loves you. Sin separates you from God. Christ died for you. You can receive Him. If you place your faith in Jesus, you will be saved!

Romans 10:9-10 (HCSB)
9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

3. We are sent to proclaim a message so that others may hear the good news.

Romans 10:14 (HCSB)
14 But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher?

4. We are sent to proclaim a message so that others may hear the good news and believe.

Romans 10:14 (HCSB)
14 But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher?

5. We are sent to proclaim a message so that others may hear the good news, believe, and call upon the Lord for salvation.

Romans 10:13 (HCSB)
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We know that we can’t save anyone – only God can do that. But God has chosen to work through people to spread the good news of Jesus Christ with others.

  • Will anyone be in heaven because of…
    • …what you gave?
    • …what you said?
    • …what you did?
    • …where you went?

This week, pray that God will open up doors for you, your family, your Christian friends, and your church family to reach out to others through gospel conversations, the kind that Jesus had with people all the time. Let’s reach out together!

  1. Last Tuesday, Bob went to the hospital for tests. He apparently had a stroke, but now seems normal. In the midst of this episode, I encountered a complete stranger whose son was in the process of being diagnosed by the process of elmination. I walked by, caught her eye and told her I would be praying for her. That night we met in the parking lot well after midnight. I asked her what her name was and prayed for her. The next day I tried to inquire as to how she was doing but didn’t have enough info to track her down. As I was leaving the hospital she was walking down the hall so I could leave her with a final blessing. God’s perfect timing still amazes me
