Where do you find security in life? Is it in your bank account or job or accomplishments or relationships or fame? I hope not, because you will never find permanent security in anything other than God. So how do you lean on God for ultimate security, in this life and forever?
Today’s message focused on Psalm 34. It was a song written by David, the man who had been anointed to be the next king of Israel but was not king yet. He was in a dangerous situation, and he needed lots of help. He needed security in a big way. Here are some of my notes from his message.
To find security in this life and forever…
… lean on God’s greatness. Just like the words of the song “Praise You in the Storm” by Casting Crowns, we can lean on our great God to carry us through even the most difficult times. He is great.
… lean on God’s protection. He shields us. He protects us when we are not even aware that we need protecting!
… lean on God’s provision. God will provide all that you need. This does not mean that you will have everything you want, but it does mean that you will not lack for anything you need.
… lean on God’s promises. You see, even with the best intentions people’s promises get broken. But God is different. God is always faithful. He always keeps His promises. Jesus takes dead hope and brings it back to life!
… lean on God’s presence. God is here. With you. If you are a follower of Christ, God promises to never leave you or forsake you. God is near.
… lean on God’s security. God can be counted on. Lean on Him.
Keep your life framed from God’s perspective. He created you. He loves you. He has a plan for you. He wants to receive glory from your life.
Put your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Follow Him in obedience. Trust Him continually. Let him be your security!
